National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the CMAT 2023 Result on May 31, 2023 for 58035 test takers who appeared in CMAT exam on May 4, 2023. This year CMAT exam was conducted in two shifts and the result has been released after normalization of score for both the slots. Like last year, CMAT 2023 score card displays overall and sectional score and all India rank. While your overall and sectional CMAT score with all India rank is available in the score card, the cut offs are to be released by the respective B-schools. The Candidates will shortly know the B school PGDM cut off. NTA has not released final answer key before release of CMAT Result 2023.

What is CMAT?

CMAT full form is Common Management Admission Test (CMAT). It is a government organized computer based national level MBA entrance examination for entry into 1000 AICTE approved management programmes (MBA/PGDM) all over India. Till 2018, CMAT was conducted by AICTE, now the Test is conducted by the National Testing Authority (NTA) constituted by Government of India. More than 70,000 candidates apply for CMAT every year. CMAT offers unique opportunity to all the test takers as none of them is disqualified in its result.

CMAT 2023 Exam Cities

CMAT 2023 exam will be held in two shifts of 3 hours duration in 110 cities all over India as online computer based test. CMAT 2023 Exam will have 100 questions equally divided into 5 sections of 20 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) in each section. Check details below

  • CMAT 2023 test paper has time duration of 3 hours and consists of 5 sections
  • The Exam is divided in 5 sections with 20 questions in each section. The sections are Quantitative Technique, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension, General Awareness and Innovation and Entrepreneurship
  • There will be 100 questions for 3 hours exam
  • All are of objective type questions in MCQs form.
  • Question difficulty level is easy to moderate
  • Each correct answer is awarded +4 Mark
  • Each wrong answer is penalized with negative marking of -1 mark

The CMAT admit card is available for download after the last date to apply for CMAT is over. All provisionally registered candidates for CMAT exam 2023 can download their Admit Card from CMAT.NTA website. No admit card is now sent as hard copy to the candidate’s registered address..

CMAT Exam 2023 Difficulty Level

The CMAT colleges cut offs in MBA admission are not very high although the question paper and scoring pattern award liberal marks to exam takers. The cut offs especially among top 20 colleges are slightly higher as compared to other MBA colleges, since the merit position in top 20 colleges is based on little higher cut offs.

JBIMS, PUMBA among 330+ MBA Colleges in Maharashtra to Accept CMAT Exam Score

The Higher and Technical Education Department, Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra has clarified while determining the entrance exam eligibility of All India category candidates for MBA/MMS admission process in Government, University affiliated, private aided and unaided Maharashtra MBA colleges, that All India Candidature Candidate, Jammu and Kashmir Migrant Candidature Candidate will be considered for MBA/MMS admission on the basis of obtaining non zero positive score in CET conducted by the Competent Authority; CAT -conducted by Indian Institute of Management; CMAT; GMAT among others.

National Testing Agency: CMAT Conducting Body

NTA, a newly created test conducting body, is conducting the entire CMAT 2023 exam alongwith other exams which were conducted by other agencies earlier. NTA will use highly secured IT software and encryption to ensure delivery of tests just in time. This will ensure no leakages and other malpractices. National Testing Agency (NTA) has been established by Government of India as a testing organization to conduct entrance examinations for admission/fellowship in higher educational institutions. NTA has replaced AICTE as exam conducting authority. AICTE conducted CMAT exam till 2018. CMAT is now known as NTA CMAT instead of AICTE-CMAT. From 2019 onwards, National Testing Agency has been assigned to conduct the CMAT exam.

The revised CMAT exam is similar to past exam pattern. It is a three hour computer based online test, conducted in a single session to evaluate the candidate’s ability across five sections namely Quantitative Technique, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension, General Awareness and Innovation and Entrepreneurship

AICTE Approved MBA/PGDM Colleges to Accept CMAT Score

All the top colleges accepting CMAT 2023 exam score are the ones offering AICTE approved MBA/PGDM programmes. They include top MBA colleges like JBIMS, SIMSREE, K J Somaiya, GIM, Great Lakes, BIMTECH among others. According to AICTE, ‘All AICTE approved Institutes / Departments / Constituent Colleges / Affiliated Colleges of Universities are expected to accept CMAT scores. The specific notifications issued by Universities and State Governments are available at CMAT website.’

CMAT is one of the largest National Level MBA/PGDM entrance examinations and is conducted once a year, as per the directions of Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.

Universities in 13 states including Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka among others accept CMAT exam scores alongwith CAT for admission to their MBA programmes. The governments have officially notified CMAT as their official test. In addition, many B-schools offering AICTE approved PGDM programs will be using the CMAT scores. More than 1000 B schools running AICTE approved management programmes in India accept the CMAT score. It is the 2nd largest MBA/PGDM entrance test after CAT in the country.

If you don’t get good scores in CAT/XAT/SNAP, the Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) is the answer to your MBA/PGDM needs leading to 1000+ AICTE approved B-schools across the country. The exam will be conducted in 109 test cities. With effect from 2016, CMAT has become a yearly exam as against twice a year exam. Earlier till 2015, there used to be 2 CMAT exams in one year. The first CMAT was held in the month of September while the second followed in the month of coming February.

The key changes in the exam are:

  • Number of sections increased to 5 from earlier 4
  • Number of questions in each section reduced to 20 from earlier 25
  • No display of Percentile score since 2022. Only raw score and rank is displayed in score card
  • B-schools will announce CMAT score cut off Or Rank Cut off or Both instead of CMAT percentile cut off

  • Download your Admit Card from the NTA’s website cmat.nta.nic.in
  • Check details as indicated on the Admit Card:
  • Check Reporting Time at Centre
  • Check Gate Closing time of test Centre
  • Check Date of Examination
  • Check Test Timings
  • Check Venue of Test. You should visit the Examination Centre, a day before the examination and familiarize yourself with the location and means of reaching the venue of the Test on time
  • Reach the venue of the Test at the Reporting Time mentioned in the Admit Card. If you report beyond the Gate Closing time of Centre, you will not be allowed to enter in the Test venue.

Items You Should Carry at Exam Centre: CMAT Exam day Do’s

Carry with you only following items:

  • Admit Card on a clear colour printout on A4 size paper
  • One Passport size photograph (same as uploaded with the Online Application Form) to be pasted on the Attendance Sheet at the Centre
  • A valid Photo ID Proof in ORIGINAL (PAN card/ Driving License/ Voter ID/ Passport/ Aadhaar Card (With photograph)/E- Aadhaar/Ration Card/ Bank Passbook with Photograph).
  • Please note that ID Cards issued by Schools/ Colleges/ Universities/ Coaching Centres, AADHAR enrollment receipt without AADHAR NUMBER and PHOTOCOPIES OR Images Stored in mobile phones etc will NOT be accepted
  • No Candidate would be allowed to enter the Examination Centre, without identity verification
  • PwD certificate issued by the Competent Authority, if claiming the relaxation under PwD category.

Don't Carry the following

Candidates are NOT allowed to carry Instrument/ Geometry/ Pencil box, Handbag, Purse, any kind of Paper/ Stationery/ Textual material (printed or written material), Eatables and Water (loose or packed), Mobile Phone/ Ear Phone/ Microphone/ Pager, Calculator, DocuPen, Slide Rules, Log Tables, Camera, Tape Recorder, to wear/carry any type of watch including Electronic Watches with facilities of calculator, any metallic item or electronic gadgets/ devices in the Examination Hall/Room

There may not be any provision for safe keeping of valuables at the Centre.

Inside the Examination Hall

  • Pen/ Pencil and blank paper sheets for rough work will be provided in the examination Hall/Room.
  • Write Your name and Roll Number at the top of the sheet and must return the sheets and Admit Card to the Invigilator, before leaving the examination Hall/Room.
  • Enter required details in the Attendance Sheet in legible handwriting, put your signature, Left Hand Thumb Impression and paste the Photograph at the appropriate place. Ensure that Your Left Hand Thumb Impression is clear and not smudged.
  • No Candidate should adopt any unfair means or indulge in any unfair examination practices. The candidature of candidates in case of impersonation will be automatically cancelled without any notice
